Acting Out!
Friday, October 7th, 8pm
This summer, DaPoPo led a mentorship program for queer youth, providing comprehensive training in theatrical disciplines, aimed at giving voice to the participants. At this performance series, participant Karen Chung will present her work-in-progress, followed by a screening of the film "Lust, Caution" by Ang Lee.
Four Actors In Search of a Nation
Thursday, October 13th - Saturday, October 15th, 8pm
DaPoPo's very first show returns with a new cast, a new staging and a difficult question: How do these actors create a play about being Canadian?
Panel Discussion:
Women in Theatre: The Real Deal
Sunday, October 16th, 7:30pm
Join Ann-Marie Kerr, Sue LeBlanc, Janice Jackson, Dr. Roberta Barker and Stephanie MacDonald for a panel discussion of issues for the working actress/performer. Are the challenges for women different than their male counterparts; what about the opportunities? More than wine and whine, the girls get down to business: where are we now, what do we need and what are our roles in getting there? Moderated by Kim Parkhill.
Book launch & Poetry Readings:
Amanda Jernigan & Richard Outram
Monday, October 17th, 8:30pm
Co-Hosted by the Writers' Federation of Nova Scotia
Poet, Author, Playwright, and Four Actor's original cast member Amanda Jernigan reads from her book of poetry, and DaPoPo Theatre performs poems from "The Essential Richard Outram", edited by Amanda Jernigan. It's a great Canadian poetry night, DaPoPo-style!
Café DaPoPo
