DaParties

Another thing DaPoPo does well is share fun times with friends old and new.  Join us for these exciting social events!

"Come Home to the Living Room" Opening Party
Saturday, September 24th, 8pm-1am

The living room is for comfort, for lounging, and spending relaxed times with good friends and family.  Kick off the Live-In comfortably, with our "Comfort food" party!  Bring a blanket, your slippers, or whatever helps you "come home", and meet the participants in this year's Live-In, in comfort and style!

FUNDRAISER:
The Drinking Game
Friday, September 30th, 8:30pm.

Two strangers sit at a table, meeting for the first time in front of an audience. Their conversation is mediated by a series of questions, and alcohol. This a brand new performance concept, developed by Garry Williams, artistic director of DaPoPo Theatre and co-creator of Café DaPoPo.

Film Screening: Looking For Richard
Saturday, October 1st, 8pm

This strange and charming documentary by Al Pacino, in which he also stars, is an exploration of several topics: Shakespeare and his hump-backed villain, the impulse to act, the way actors work--and Pacino's single-minded effort to make the Bard accessible to all audiences and not just the effete few. Over the course of the film, Pacino alternately discusses the role and the text; roams Manhattan, talking about Shakespeare with everyone from scholars to people on the street; and re-creates scenes from the play in a production staged at the Cloisters, an evocative castle-like museum on the north end of Manhattan. He assembles a cast that includes Kevin Spacey, Winona Ryder, Estelle Parsons, and Alec Baldwin to perform the scenes, and he slips back and forth between text and discussion of the play in a way that makes Shakespeare comprehensible and fascinating to viewers who know or care nothing about his writing. --Marshall Fine

Thanksgiving Potluck
Sunday, October 9th, 5pm-9pm

Can't make it home for the holiday?  Want to celebrate a little differently this year?  Just love Turkey?  Come on out for the Live-In's potluck turkey dinner!  We'll bring the turkey, you bring a side dish to share, and a plate.  Happy Thanksgiving, from the Live-In!

Nocturne "Stone Soup" Warm-up
Saturday, October 15th, 9:30pm-12pm

Take a break from roaming the streets during Halifax's "Art at Night" event, and warm up with a mug of "Stone Soup".   Attendees are encouraged, but by no means required, to bring an ingredient to the soup.  Hear the story of the Stone Soup, and sample some free theatrical appetizers to get you in the mood for our upcoming Café DaPoPo.  Help us celebrate the closing of "Four Actors In Search of a Nation", and fuel up for more Nocturne fun!

"Oktoberfest" Closing Party
October 22nd, 8pm-1am

DaPoPo is packing its bags to take Café DaPoPo on the road to Berlin, Germany!  Help us get ready, and bid "Auf Wiedersehen!" to another successful Live-In, with this German-themed party, complete with German sausages, big beer steins, and a party game you will never forget!
